Deputy Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has this morning emerged the winner of the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing the result at the Sani Abacha stadium, Bello Ayuba from the National Headquarters of the party said Ganduje got 5,588 and that former military administrator of Kaduna state, Brigadier General Lawal Jafaru Isa polled 126 votes. According to him, 30 of the total votes cast were invalid.
Deputy Minority leader of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila and Alhaji Usman Alhaji withdrew from the race shortly before the commencement of the primary. They threw their weight behind the candidature of Ganduje.
It would be recalled that Kano state governor, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had last Friday anointed Ganduje as he successor come 2015.
