“You should all shun all acts that may pose threat to relationship with your host communities, especially the issue of drug abuse, cybercrimes, thuggery or anything that will tarnish the good image of the scheme and your family.

“I equally charge you to use the various Community Development Services (CDS) platforms at the grassroots to carry out public enlightenment and mobilisation for change in behavior and cultural re-orientation”, he said.

According to Ganduje, the roles of corps members in significant tasks over the years have impacted in all aspects the National life, saying their participation as ad-hoc staff during election is widely acknowledged and appreciated by all Nigerians.

He, therefore, advised them to consider it as a National duty and they should uphold all the lofty ideals of the scheme and remain conscientious in the discharge of all assignments given to them.

“Our government for the past three years has embarked on critical priority basic infrastructure projects across the state, alongside positive expansion of education sector so as to bring change and create employment to our graduates.

Therefore, you are encouraged to leverage on this and take advantage of the programmes for maximum benefits”, the governor said.

Earlier in his remarks, the state NYSC Coordinator , Alhaji Ladan Baba said the orientation exercise was not only meant to equip the corps members with leadership skills, but also to lay a solid foundation for the much desired National unity, integrity and development.

“To a greater extent, the objectives have been met as the initial fears and anxiety have gradually given ways to hope and determination to serve in the state”.

He urged them to settle down fast wherever they are posted for their primary and secondary assignments to contribute meaningfully in order to enrich the lives of the people.

Baba said, “As part of the NYSC’s contributions in Government’s efforts at impacting positively to Kano State, you are expected to make contributions to the ongoing INEC-Voter education.

He said, “You are also expected to contribute your quota in ad-hoc election duties in the 2019 general elections, anti-corruption campaigns, disaster relief operations, Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) and other individual projects that would positively enhance the living condition of the rural communities”.

He, therefore, called on the state government to complete the general renovation of the camp and rehabilitate the motorised solar boreholes and the feeder road leading to the camp. (NAN)
