Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has resolved the crisis that rocked Kano State House of Assembly recently, just as he saved the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Ata from being impeached, Daily Trust learnt.
A reliable source within the state Assembly confided Daily Trust that the matter was resolved during a special meeting between the governor and two warring groups of the lawmakers which was held throughout yesterday’s night.
The source said, “We have deliberated the matter thoroughly at the meeting which started around 9pm (yesterday) and ended around 6am today. Both parties have voiced out their grievances and we have addressed them squarely.
“The two warring groups have now agreed that Ata should continue as speaker, while the former speaker of the house Rurum is now the deputy speaker. For the principal officers only Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu, the deputy majority leader was recalled to his position, while the rest have gone.”
He said that the two warring groups would address a press conference on the matter later in the day.
