The seven-man committee in Kano assembly to investigate a video clip alleging bribery against Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has opted for a public hearing to gather evidence.
The governor is alleged to have taken $5m in kickbacks from a contractor.
The allegation was contained in a video clip released by an online newspaper Daily Nigeria.
During the committee’s visit to the state police commissioner Rabi’u Yusuf, the committee chairman Baffa Danagundi said, “We have decided to make our investigation open so that the general public will be convinced about the findings of the committee.”
The police visit was to seek security during the committee’s sitting for lawmakers and witnesses.
“We don’t want a situation where by a member of the committee or witness will be humiliated or intimidated.”
