The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called for extra support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his economic reforms and calling for unity within the Southwest to support Tinubu’s initiatives.
Ganduje spoke in Akure on Monday during the inauguration of the APC’s 305-member National Campaign Council for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, scheduled for November 16.
Ganduje highlighted Tinubu’s economic policies, describing them as “life-changing reforms” aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy.
“President Tinubu is doing a commendable job for our country. He has implemented reforms to solidify our institutions for social and economic progress,” he stated.

With the president hailing from the Southwest, Ganduje emphasised the need for regional backing.
He urged the campaign council, led by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to unify party efforts to retain Ondo State under APC governance.
“We want Ondo to remain with APC, and supporting the president from this region will showcase our collective strength,” Ganduje added. He urged party members to mobilise fully for a victorious election, ensuring a smooth, fair, and democratic process.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured that the APC’s campaign would focus on substantive issues rather than divisive tactics.
He praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC’s candidate, for his accomplishments in office, which he said have laid a strong foundation for the campaign.
The Ondo APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, expressed confidence that the ruling party is united, with previous internal divisions now mended.
He stated that the opposition in the state is “jittery” due to the widespread support for Aiyedatiwa’s re-election.
Governor Aiyedatiwa outlined his administration’s achievements over the past 10 months, focusing on infrastructure, agriculture, youth development, job creation, healthcare, and education.
He further emphasised the government’s commitment to road construction, specifically 70 kilometres of rural roads to enhance access to farms and villages.
“We are committed to leadership with integrity, engaging directly with our people to understand and address their needs,” Aiyedatiwa concluded.
