The APC gubernatorial candidate and Kano State governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and that of the All Progressives Democratic Alliance (APDA), Muhammed Abacha, were absent at the Kano gubernatorial debate organised by Bayero University Kano and other partners.
The debate, which took place on Saturday at the Mambayya House, was an opportunity for the gubernatorial candidates of five selected political parties to share their manifestoes with the electorate.
However, the organisers said they did not receive any reason from either of the two contestants as to why they did not attend the debate.
The other three candidates invited, and who graced the occasion, were Muhammad Nasir Mukhtar of Legacy Party of Nigeria (LPN), Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Salihu Sagir Takai of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
The debate, the third of its kind, was put together by Bayero University Kano, some media and civil society organisations. Highlight of the event was the signing of peace accord by the PRP candidate who was absent when others signed.
