GAC Motors donates Car to Lagos State Government

GAC Motors has donated a brand-new Saloon car GAC Motor GA4 to the Lagos State Government as a star prize for this year’s Public Service Week Celebration. This was disclosed by the Head of Service of the state, Mr Hakeen Muri-Okunola during his welcome speech for the 20th Public Service Week Press Conference 2021.

He appreciated the Chairman of GAC Motors, Triple Chief Diana Chen for the gesture.

“I would like to particularly appreciate GAC Motors for donating a brand new saloon car as a star price. There is no doubt that this gesture would go a long way to make this year’s Public Service Week most interesting, very exciting and quite memorable,” Mr Muri-Okunola said.

He said that the Public Service Day Celebration which was introduced in 1994 following the resolution of Conference of African Ministers of Civil Service, set aside  June 23 as a day to recognise the contributions of Civil servants to humanity.

“As we may all recall, the Y2020 edition could not hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic which disrupted a lot of scheduled events/activities throughout the world, causing imposition of restrictions and guidelines to curtail the spread. We thank God for the grace and privilege to organize the event this year,” he said, adding that it makes this year’s celebration the 20th in the series since inception.

He said that the event with the theme, ‘Building the Africa We Want Through Embracing an Ethical Culture that Underpins Purpose- Driven Leadership in the Context of a crisis’, is one to last for a week with different activities lined up such as: health matters, Walk-for-Fitness Day, Charity Day, Long Service Merit Award during which workers who have served the state meritoriously for 30 years and above will be duly recognized and appreciated, Adire day and a host of others.

‘To mark this day however, Nigeria has chosen the theme: ‘Deploying Technology to Sustain and Enhance Service Delivery in the face of Challenging Covid-19 Pandemic Climate’ he added.
