Gabros through to NNL Super 4 finals

Ohanu Michael had in the 45th minute opened the score-line for Gabros when he squeezed past five players of the Tourists from Bauchi to volley in the ball beyond the reach of Wikki goaltender.
Wikki however even scores in the 87th minute when substitute Alaba Johnson scored from a goal-mouth scramble to drag the match to penalty shoot out.
In the ensued penalty shoot-out, Gabros scored four from the spots while Wikki Tourists scored three.
Speaking with Daily Trust shortly after the match, Wikki Tourists FC Coach, Abdullahi Maikaba said though he would have been happier if his boys had translated their efforts on the field of play into positive results, but he is impressed with the performance of the team.
According to him, the Super-4 Tournament which is the first major competitive event since he took over as the Technical Adviser of the team has helped him to know the areas that need to be worked on before the league commence on March 7.
“I am impressed with the performance of the players. We missed so many scoring chances and they got theirs and scored earlier but we got the equalizer very late. If not that, the game of penalty is a matter of luck. I don’t see my opponents as better sides.
“Take note that this is the first major competitive match since I resumed with the boys in terms of the quality of the opposition. I am happy boys were able to rise to the opposition and we would work to improve on our finishing, “Maikaba said.
He appealed to fans of the Bauchi-based teams to be patient, saying, “We are trying to build a team, they would be proud to be associated with.”
The Kwara Township Stadium, venue of the match, was filled to capacity as football fans from the capital city of the State of Harmony thronged the arena to watch the games.
