The Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State said 187 of its students have graduated with first class and would be conferred with the honours in the institution’s 31st and 32nd combined convocation next month.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta made this known at the pre-convocation media briefing in Minna yesterday.
Prof Kuta said the graduates are for 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 Academic sessions.
He said a total of 7, 312 graduands will be conferred with first degrees, 120 post graduate diplomas, 955 master degrees while 150 graduands will be conferred with PhDs in their respective areas of study.

The vice-chancellor said the event would also witness project commissioning executed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and the university, including African Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety, students’ hostel among others.
Prof Kuta revealed that the Convocation Lecture titled; The Power of Vision and Innovative Technology: The Key to Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security in Africa will be delivered by Prof John Kennedy Opara.
He further said the university has signed Memorandum of Understandings with Raw Materials Research and Development Council, National Cereal Research Institute, Badeggi among other institutions in developing alternative materials for food and pharmaceutical industries, promotion and enrichment of food content and security, drug development among others.
The vice-chancellor said to address the challenges of growing population of students and insufficient lecture halls and classrooms, the institution had embraced e-teaching and e-learning for 100 level students.
