The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA) has said that is has discovered that many major marketers in Kano are either selling above the approved pump price of N185 per litre or not dispensing at all after manifests have shown that they received supply of the product.
The agency vows to sanctioned any major marketer found guilty.
The NMDPRA Kano state coordinator Malam Ali Sama, disclosed this during an inspection tour to major marketers’ filling stations in the state.
According to him, there is no need for fuel scarcity in the state if major marketers are dispensing accordingly, adding that it is unfortunate that major marketers in Kano State had received over 661 trucks from December 2 to December 19, yet the scarcity persists in the state.

“It is unfortunate that the major marketers are not encouraging competition between them and the independent marketers. As you can see, we have gone round and we have discovered that most of these major marketers have the commodity but they are not selling and those that are selling were selling above the approved pump price.
“We have ordered for the sales of the commodity and we will definitely take disciplinary measures against any erring filling stations,” he said.
He said Conoil filling station along Zaria road was caught selling at N305 per litre and the agency sealed the station, adding that others found in possession of the commodity but not selling were asked to start dispensing it.
