Fubara reads Riot Act to re-appointed pro-Wike commissioners

Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has warned the newly re-appointed commissioners in the state against using their positions to sabotage his government, saying doing so will have consequences.

Daily Trust reports that the governor last week swore in the nine commissioners, who earlier resigned their appointments to pitch tent with Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike during the faceoff between the governor and his predecessor.

Those reappointed after the intervention of President Bola Tinubu were Zacchaeus Adangor, Jacobson Nbina, Gift Worlu, Inimefien Aguma, Chukwuemeka Woke, Chinedu Mmom, Dakorinama Kelly-George, Isaac Kamalu and Ben Chioma.

Speaking on Monday during the swearing-in of a former factional speaker of the state House of Assembly, Edison Ehie as his new Chief of Staff, Fubara warned that there would be consequences should the commissioners who were sworn in last week attempt to work against his administration.

“Let me also use this medium to direct the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to assign the commissioners that were sworn in last week with their responsibilities. Let the SSG assign only those of you who are here today (Monday) back to their former offices. Let it be part of my birthday gift to you.

“But let me also say this, coming and taking back your position is not for you to use it to destroy my government. Whatever it is that you’re doing, it is not about me, it is about the things that you can stand to defend and be proud of many years after,” he said.

Daily Trust reports that Ehie, who declared himself the factional speaker of the state House of Assembly until his resignation, replaced Chidi Amadi, a kinsman to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who resigned his appointment on the heels of the face-off between Wike and Fubara.

Aside Ehie, others equally sworn in were: Darlington Orji, Prince Solomon Abel Eke, Barr Aminayanasam Fiberesima, Engr. Deeyah Bariene and Ohia Prince as special advisers.

The governor urged them to see their appointment as a call to duty, rise to the occasion of adding value to governance and demonstrate that they are truly credible men of the state and not to use the position to invite trouble for his government.
