Frustration of getting Nigerian passport

Permit me to use this medium to call on ICPC and EFCC to beam their search lights on passport offices in Nigeria.

Immigration officers in passport offices capitalise on the lingering scarcity of passport booklets to extort money from applicants. Applicants are now made to wait for months before obtaining the document unless they are ready to pay additional money.

The issue of application and processing of passports in Nigeria is becoming more and more frustrating because of the corrupt officers serving in passport offices. It is apparent that from the way corruption thrives in virtually all immigration formations, the NIS has failed to tame its corrupt officers. This is the reason why the corruption-fighting agencies should step in.
