A patrol vehicle of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in Bauchi State has killed two persons and injured five others after it rammed into a shop at the Alkaleri Central Motor Park on Bauchi-Gombe highway.
The Gombe FRSC Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the accident to newsmen Sunday in Bauchi.
Mr Abdullahi explained thaty: “Our personnel were just coming back to the base after a normal routine patrol. Suddenly, the driver shouted and switched off the ignition. And that was how he went off the road completely.
“The patrol vehicle rammed into some people who were standing by one shop in the area. It stopped when it hit the shop. Some people in the shop also sustained injuries. 14 people, comprising of 10 adults and four children were involved.
“Health challenge can happen to anybody and at any time. The driver is still unconscious at the Alkaleri General Hospital,” he said.
He pleaded with the families of the victims, saying, “On behalf of the corps, our hearts reach out to the families of those who lost their lives. We pray that Allah will comfort them. We also wish those who were injured quick recovery. The corpses have been deposited at the mortuary while the injured are receiving treatment at the same hospital.”
