Officers of the Abaji unit command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have recovered N414,680 cash including foreign currency totaling 10,000 CFA at an accident scene.

The Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Olasupo Esuruoso, while handing over the money to family members of the deceased in the area, yesterday, said the money was recovered inside a bag belonging to the deceased.

He said the deceased, Usman Shuaibu, was riding a new motorcycle when he was knocked down by a hit and run driver few metres away from an army checkpoint on Abaji-Abuja-Lokoja road on Saturday morning.

He said some of his men who were on patrol along the highway conveyed the deceased to Abaji General Hospital where he later died.

“During the rescue we found a bag belonging to the deceased containing N414, 680 and N10,000 CFA  and we took it along with the motorcycle to the office,” he said.

He said the command was able to trace the bereaved family through the dead man’s handset also found at the scene.

A younger brother of the deceased, Shuaibu Maigari, who collected the recovered assets, said his elder, who resided in Isuko village in Lokoja, was returning from Zuba, where he had gone to buy the new motorcycle.

He thanked the FRSC officials for recovering the money and motorcycle, and prayed that God continued to guard and protect them.
