Friesland, 3 others to boost dairy industry

A consortium of four International Organizations including FrieslandCampina WAMCO, URUS, Barenbrug and Agrifirm have announced a partnership to accelerate the Nigerian dairy sector. The partners will at a webinar scheduled to hold on April 20, 2021 share their vision on how to accelerate dairy development in Nigeria and also endorse the ambitious plan by signing the cooperation agreement.

Formation of the consortium include: FrieslandCampina WAMCO, specialized in milk collection and processing; URUS, breeding; Barenbrug, roughage production and Agrifirm specialized in animal feed. This formation will help to bolster a sustainable and integrated dairy sector model, which will formulate home grown methods and solutions to challenges, which previously needed external intervention.

According to the Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, Ben Langat, the formation will plan and act on the long-term requirements for a self-sufficient dairy chain in the country.
