Friends and associates of late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi on Thursday organised a novelty football match in commemoration of his 71st posthumous birthday.
The novelty match which was held at the Lead City University Stadium attracted several dignitaries including the widow of the late former governor, Florence Ajimobi and family members.

The match hosted by a House of Representatives member, Tolulope Sadipe (APC-Oluyole), who was a former aide of the late Ajimobi was played between Akorede Local Government team and Idi-Ayunre.
Team Akorede Local Government triumphed 2-0 with striker Ibrahim Olatunbosun scoring a brace.
Mrs. Ajimobi commended Akande-Sadipe on the initiative saying it has further united the youths and brought excitement to other members of the constituency.
“Nothing is too much to celebrate His Excellency, former Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, who during his lifetime gave his all to the development of Oyo State, his party and family. We miss him and his legacies,” she said.
Earlier, Akande-Sadipe, who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, said the match was her way of celebrating the late governor.
Hon. Seyi Adisa (APC- Afijio State Constituency) said that his former boss was fondly called Achipelago, because he wanted football to be one of the things he should be remembered for.
Adisa, who was Ajimobi’s Principal Private Secretary while in office, said his former boss deserved such a befitting match because he was a football lover himself.
The event featured the presentation of the trophy to the winner and cash reward to all the players who participated in the novelty match.
Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, the State ALGON Chairman, former aides to late Ajimobi, family members, friends, associate and host of soccer legends graced the occasion.
