A fridge repairer, Yunusa Abdullateef, has hanged himself over an alleged theft of a motorcycle in Ilọrin, the Kwara State capital.
City & Crime gathered that the incident occurred penultimate week around Ile Alfa Iwo, before Ita Ogunbo, Ode Alfa Nda.
A resident of the area simply identified as Mr Abdul said the deceased committed the act out of shame, having been accused of stealing the motorcycle in the community.
“After he stole the motorcycle, he left home, but the community launched a manhunt and apprehended him.

“After he admitted to the theft on Saturday, he promised to return the motorcycle on the Monday that followed. However, on Sunday, he told neighbours to leave the compound door opened that he would lock it, only for them to see his dangling lifeless body inside his room after a search when they didn’t see him.
“Some of the residents close to him said he complained that the shame and social stigma would be too much for him to bear,” Abdul said.
When contacted, the police spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Sunday.
