Traffic along Enugu-Abakaliki expressway was Tuesday evening paralyzed following heavy shooting by gunmen at the Ezilo axis in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.
This came just after the state governor, David Umahi, had held an enlarged security council meeting aimed at addressing the insecurity facing the state.

At the security council meeting, Governor Umahi told journalists that two persons were killed following a fresh land dispute between the people of Ezillo community and those of neighbouring Iyionu in the area.
However, both communities are in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state but it was not yet clear whether the shooting at the highway was connected with the conflict involving the two communities.
Daily Trust gathered that motorists plying the route waited anxiously at Okpoto to continue their journey when the road is cleared while many others took alternative route.
The state police command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Loveth Odah.
She said the police commissioner, Aliyu Garba, had dispatched policemen to restore peace and open up the road for users.
She, however, said the shooting was not related to the boundary dispute as the disputed area was not close to the highway.
But our correspondent learnt that soldiers and policemen were battling to clear the highway.
