The sack of the Vice Chancellor followed his indictment by the Justice S.A.Nsofor led Visitation Panel into the affairs of the University from 2004 till date, submitted to the state government yesterday in Owerri.
The panel accused Prof.Okonkwo of inflating the initial contract sum from N39m to N40m and later to N75m to the most incompetent contractor, E.O Bob Lawrence Nigeria Ltd located at No 2 Nwaturuocha street, Owerri.
The Justice Nsofor led panel equally indicted the former Vice Chancellor for inflating the contract for the purchase of six unit of KIA CERATO cars to N20,646,250.00 when one unit of KIA CERATO car did not cost more than N2.5m as at that time.
