Foursquare church inducts 400 youth pastors at ICML 2021

The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, has inducted 400  youth pastors across the nation to go and win youthful soul for Jesus Christ.

Speaking after the annual week long International Conference of Ministers and Leaders (ICML) of the church in Lagos, the General Overseer Reverend Sam Aboyeji on behalf of the church, inducted the 400 youth pastors with an anointing and a special charge to excel.

The G.O noted that the position of the youths in the society is too important to be ignored.

“According to Dr Akinwumi Adesina, the current President of African Development Bank, young people in Nigeria below the age of 30 are presently 70% of the entire population. So that is why we keep hearing of the next generation. That is why you see that if they arrest bandits today or arrest armed robbers or all those who are doing criminal things today, you check the age range, it is always from 30 and below. That tells us that age range needs attention,” he said.

Reverend Sam Aboyeji noted that the newly inducted pastors were screened from a list which went into thousands and after a whole week of re-training, the youth pastors have been charged to focus and pay attention to youths in the society.

“Anywhere you go in Nigeria today the people are below 30, so if we must preach the gospel to Nigerians, this segment should be our focus. The new pastors can preach to other people above 30 but if they focus more on the youths, they will impact more and effectively. What Dr Adeshina said looks like a challenge but that challenge can be turned to an opportunity. But how can we turn it, it is only God that can help us, by God taking over the heart of the youths. That is the reason this group of Pastors are going out to reach out to these set of youths and bring them to the knowledge of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Foursquare Gospel Church General Overseer recalled the story of Saul who was later called Paul in the bible, “It is only the gospel that can transform a man, people like Saul were transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. He used to be a killer of pastors but, he himself became someone that was persecuted for the gospel of Christ. That is the power of the gospel. Jesus Christ the saviour, the baptizer of the Holy Ghost has the power to change, and as this power is released over our 400 pastors, you will see our youths being changed from occultism to godliness, you will see them being changed from being bandits to useful members of the society and the Lord will do it in Jesus name,” he prayed.

The General Overseer also used the opportunity to call for unity in the country.
