No fewer than four residents of Nasarawa State have lost their lives to a boat accident in the Awe Local Government Area of the state.
Daily Trust learnt that the boat, which was conveying rice farmers from Ubbe District in the Nasarawa Eggon LGA, capsized on a river along Hunki village of Awe LGA Monday night.
Our correspondent learnt that the bodies of the victims had been transported back to the village for proper identification by their families.
The victims were identified as Alkali Congo, Shedrack Dauda, Mashack Dauda, and Akolo Moses.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident in Lafia, the state capital, on Tuesday, explained that the driver of the boat was still missing.
He said, “Confirmed. It happened yesterday (Monday); the farmers were returning from the farm, and the boat capsized.
“But with the support of local divers, four corpses were recovered, and one person was rescued.
“The person driving the boat is yet to be found and efforts are ongoing to find him. The Acting Commissioner of Police sympathized with the families of the deceased and prayed to God to console them in a special way.”
Our correspondent reports that 12 residents recently lost their lives to a boat accident at the Kogi Kungra Kamfani River in Arikiya community of Lafia LGA.
