The suspects, Olusegun Owoola (26) Gbenga Akinkade (34), Jinadu Waliu (30) and Sanni Hammed (27), were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Headquarters, Atan Ota.

It was gathered that the DPO, Abolade Oladigbolu was informed that the two groups were on the rampage at Hotel Road area, Atan Ota and that there was sporadic gunshots in the area.

The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday told newsmen in Abeokuta that following the distress call, the DPO mobilised his men to the scene where they met the two groups engaging themselves in serious gun battle.

The policemen engaged the hoodlums and subsequently subdued them, at the end of which four amongst the cultists were apprehended, he said.

Items recovered, according to him were one locally made pistol, three live cartridges, two knives, iron rod and assorted criminal charms.

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to anti-cultists section of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
