Four cultists arrested in Edo, Lagos

The Divisional Police Officer detailed his men to be on the lookout for the suspects.

Police have arrested four suspected cultists in Lagos and Edo states.

In Lagos, two cult suspects were arrested at the Otto Awori area of Ijanikin after detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer raided criminal spots in the area.

Recently, suspected members of Aiye and Eiye cult groups engaged in bloody attacks, which led to the death of about four persons.

The Divisional Police Officer detailed his men to be on the lookout for the suspects.

Guns, cutlasses, assorted charms and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the suspects, named Israel Taiye and Isiaka Afeez.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said due to the swift response of the police, normalcy was immediately restored to the area.

Similarly, operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested two suspected cultists with pump action gun and some dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in Benin, the state capital.

The suspects – identified as Imasuen Raymond, 32 and Precious Ajayi, 24 – were arrested on Benin-Sepele Road bypass by the anti-kidnaping and cyber-crime unit of the command.

It was gathered that the police, while on patrol, intercepted a Lexus 330 car with Registration number FUG 571 SB driven by the suspects.

The state command spokesperson, Kontongs Bello confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

He said the suspects have confessed to being members of one of the deadly cult groups in Benin.
