No fewer than four persons were burnt to death with several others injured in a multiple accident along Okołowo expressway in Kwara State on Monday.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred when the truck carrying 45,000 litres of petrol lost control after a tyre burst and had a head-on collision with another truck loaded with soya beans. The third truck involved in the incident carrying soft drinks reportedly ran into them and also caught fire.
At the time our correspondent left the scene Monday night, four bodies burnt beyond recognition had been removed by rescuers.
Eyewitnesses said the fire later spread and caught up with three schoolchildren and two Okada riders who happened to be passing by and are now receiving treatment at a private hospital in the area.
