Four persons died in a road accident that occurred between Ohono and Akpanya along Lokoja-Abuja Road in Kogi State Thursday.

Daily Trust learnt that the accident occurred at about 7.00 am when an 18-seater bus lost control while returning from Lagos to Kano State.

Witnesses said the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a stationed tanker and caught fire.

It was gathered that three of the passengers who were burnt to death were uniform men.

Other passengers were rescued with various degrees of burns by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and volunteers.

FRSC sector commander in Kogi State, Solomon Agure, confirmed the incident to journalists in Lokoja.

He said the injured victims had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

“Is a night journey. In the early morning of today, between 6:30am to 7am, there was a tanker that was parked by the roadside and the vehicle lost control and hit the tanker and later went up in flame,” he said.

Agure advised motorists to avoid night journeys, saying, “God who created us knows why he created day and night. The vehicle is coming from Lagos at night.

“Because for you to be around Jamata bridge, Akpayan road at those early hours, it means you drove throughout the night. Drivers should avoid stressing themselves by driving at night to avoid accidents in our roads”.
