Three persons, who allegedly sustained serious injuries during the Ondo APC Congress held in Irele Local government at the weekend, are now receiving medical attention in a private hospital.
Daily Trust gathered that trouble started as different fraction struggled to dominate the congress, but the arrival of one of the state commissioners who allegedly came to the venue with thugs aggravated the situation which later turned into battle.
The Ondo state police command spokesman, Femi Joseph on Monday told Daily Trust that four persons have been arrested in connection with the crisis.
According to him, it was purely a political matter and if those concerned could resolve their differences and decide to settle out of court then the police will have to let go.
He however said no life was lost though people sustained injuries.
But the leadership of the party has said the entire exercise was a success.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Steve Otaloro, the party said it continued with its ward congresses in Ondo State at the weekend and the Ose Local Government Area congress was conducted in a peaceful manner.
Delivering the message of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to party delegates, the outgoing party chairman of Ose Local Government, Hon. Oredola Jacob said the governor appreciated the way members conducted themselves during last Saturday congress across the state.
The acting state chairman of APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin has dismissed as phoney alleged congresses conducted by some aggrieved individuals whom he said were bent on tarnishing the party’s credibility.
He said any congress not supervised by the Election Committee sent by the party’s National Secretariat was null and void.
At Ose Local Government, the following were elected and returned as the executive of the party: Ladi Tenabe (Chairman), Adetula Solomon Ade(Vice chairman), Dele Isibor(Secretary), Gabriel Ebegbe (Treasurer ), Omage Folorunsho (Financial Secretary), Muyiwa Owolabi(Organising Secretary), Ayedogbon Abiodun(Auditor).
