The Board of Trustees and Management of Fountain University has appointed Dr. Umaru Mutallab (CON) as the new Chancellor of the University.

Dr. Mutallab who is the Chairman, Jaiz bank expressed his pleasure for the honour bestowed on him as the Chancellor of the faith-oriented university.

He thanked Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) worldwide for finding him worthy of the position while pledging to deploy his wealth of experience and resources to take the university to an enviable height.

In his remarks during a courtesy visit by the NASFAT executive members and Fountain University Management to his office in Abuja, he commended the proprietor of the university for the laudable initiative of establishing an institution, where knowledge imbued with values and morals are imparted.

The president of NASFAT worldwide, Alhaji Niyi Yusuff appreciated the chancellor for accepting the offer, stressing the institution is lucky to have such a prominent personality on board.

While tracing the historical background of the university, the president noted that there is an urgent need for the institution to introduce more courses in addition to the two colleges in the university.

He commended the academic and non-academic staff of the university for giving their best to the university, while urging the university management to get similar hands to achieve academic and moral excellence in the College of Basic Medical and Health Sciences, newly introduced by the university.

The Pro-Chancellor of the University, Vice-Admiral Jubrila Ayinla extolled the virtues of the new chancellor, saying he is confident that the chancellor would attract high level of human and material resources that will foster the growth and development of the university.

Vice Admiral Jubrila enjoined Dr. Mutallab to keep working towards the progress of the nation, while he prayed that Almighty Allah grant him good health to continue to advance the course of Islam and humanity in general.

Also, the former Pro-Chancellor of the university and Jamb Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede praised the new chancellor.

“I am happy to be here today to meet with Dr. Mutallab. He has been wonderful to the muslim ummah and Islam in general, especially through the disbursement of Zakat and Sadaqah to the Nigerian populace. Here is another opportunity to serve Allah with your wisdom, networks and resources. We pray to Almighty Allah to assist you in the task ahead,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor, Fountain University, Prof. Amidu Sanni said he is optimistic that the appointment of the new Chancellor will fast track several other developments to the university, which would enhance learning, research and community service.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of NASFAT Prayer Book and other items as well as the University Souvenir by the President and University Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Sallee to the new Chancellor.

Dignitaries at the event included Chairman BOT Fountain University, Alhaji Yinka Adeola, Founder and Pro-Chancellor, Baze University, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, Chairman BOT NASFAT, Dr. Olasupo, MD Jaiz Bank, Mr. Hassan Usman, Chief Missioner NASFAT, Imam (Engr.) Maruf Onike, Alhaji Sheriff Yusuf.
