The ‘Teacher Essien Ita Ita Educational Foundation has undertaken to fix the increasing number of potholes in the University of Calabar.
To this end, they presented a cheque to the university authorities to begin work immediately.

Chairman of the board of trustees of the foundation, Chief Gersh Henshaw, said they were delighted to identify with the first female vice-chancellor of the institution which made them to support the school.
He added that fixing the potholes was also in memory of the second anniversary of the passing of the wife of the sponsor of the foundation, Chief Ekpenyong Ita.
“This cheque is meant for the fixing of potholes in the institution in order to ease movement of vehicles on campus.
“Our foundation is an educational and non-profit organisation set up to boost education and it’s infrastructure.
“Under the Teacher Essien Ita Ita Educational Trust Fund, scholarships are offered to indigent students in tertiary institutions,” he said.
He said the foundation was looking forward to exploring other areas of partnership with the institution for mutual benefits.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, thanked the foundation for the kind gesture, assuring that “the money will be put to good use. The potholes will be fixed in a few days’’.
