A humanitarian organisation, Dandali Foundation, has called on the Kaduna State Government to address the plights of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are scattered at different locations in the state.
Speaking in Kaduna, yesterday, during the presentation of food items, rams and toiletries to IDPs and orphanages, a member of the board of trustees of the foundation, Umar Sa’idu Tudun-Wada, said that IDPs camp should be set up in Kaduna State to assist victims of insurgency and other crises.
“The influx of IDPs as a result of insurgency in the North-east has also affected Kaduna, although there is no IDPs camp. We learnt that the IDPs are living in the personal houses of some people. These IDPs are in a very dire situation. They are people living normal life like all of us and suddenly they lose their properties.
“There are large numbers of IDPs in Kaduna and so we urge the state government to endeavour to alleviate their sufferings and also set up a camp for them. It will be much easier to have them in one place and render them assistance rather than going to different places.”
Tudun-Wada called on state governments in the North to give priority to youth empowerment and carter for the less privedged.
