Foundation organises football competition to promote peace in Gombe South

The Adamu Yola Foundation in Gombe State has organised a football competition to promote peace and unity in the Gombe South Senatorial District.

The Local Organising Committee Chairman of the Foundation, Promise Uwaeme, who stated this during the 7th edition press conference held at the Jewel Hotel, Kaltungo said the foundation had a zeal  for identifying talented youths from the grassroots and restoring peace to the communities.

Uwaeme, added that with elections around the corner, the Foundation felt the need to use the competition to educate the populace on the importance of peace, by engaging them in sporting activities, so that they would not have time to partake in any unwholesome act.

According to him, the 7th edition of the football competition will start on 17th December and round off on the 27th December, where more teams are expected to participate and winner is expected to go home with the sum of seven hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N750,000.00), while the second position will win N500,000 and third will have N250,000.

He said all the teams that would make it to the round of 16 and 8 will get N20,000 each.

He appreciated everyone who contributed to the successes of all other editions, especially the sponsors, SIYAKO Foundation, Style Hope, Gombe State FA and Metro Consultant Clinic.

The schedule of activities for the 7th edition of Adamu Yola Gombe South Cup shows that registration of teams which starts immediately ends on the 30th of September, peace advocacy campaign, 11th – 14th of October, draws 15th of October, opening ceremony, 22nd October, preliminary round 22nd October – 3rd December and the final round from the 17th – 29th December 2022.
