The Adewale Isa Foundation (AIF) Junior Tennis Championship has announced plans to offer a US- training tour to the U-12 winners of both male and female categories as the championship will commence today, Tuesday, August 13.
The convener. AIF, Olayinka Adigun stated during a press briefing to herald the championship, adding that action would come alive at the fifth edition inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
He stressed that the championship was organised to honour their late father for his contribution to the development of the sport while he was alive.
“The AIF championship started as our way of immortalizing our father, Alhaji Adewale Isa, whose tracks in tennis are there for all to see. He was the guiding coach for many tennis players and coaches who have gone ahead to become great tennis coaches and players.

“We are happy to continue sponsoring and organizing this competition because we see the fruits of our labour germinating real quick and right before our very own eyes,” he said.
He noted that this year’s edition will witness intense competition among the players in 12, 14 and 16 & under categories, acknowledging that the championship stands as a breed to produce tennis champions.
“The likes of Chukwudubem Amasiani (who is now the number one U-14 Junior in West Africa and 8th in Africa), Khadijat Mohammed (who went ahead to win a national tournament), Mubarak Ganiyu (former top African junior), have won this tournament in the past and have shown brilliance in their tennis development,” he said.
