An NGO, Charilove Foundation and Soup Kitchen, has empowered over 300 children with special needs with education and feeds the children a meal daily to enable them cope in school in Edo State.

The Chaplain of Charilove Foundation, Rev Fr Anselm Ugwuagada, who disclosed this during the 20 years anniversary of the foundation, said, “In the school, we have 115 pupils, 15 of them reside here while others come from their homes. They are all special needs children. Some have speech and hearing impairment while others are autistic.

“The foundation gives the pupils who attend the school from their homes a meal a day while the 15 others resident in the home are fed three times daily.

“The foundation also has children in Osiomo and Oga communities, where we also feed them one meal a day.”

The founder of the foundation, Chris Omosi, said he decided take care of people with disabilities with a view to rehabilitate them and make them useful to society

He said, “They are children with special needs and we have been able to prove that there is ability in disability, and the children are coping well.

“The soup kitchen started in 2004 to feed children with special needs who can’t afford to feed or do not have access to food. Charilove started in 2010 to give them education.”

He added that good Nigerians and the Edo State Government had been very supportive to ensure that the foundation was sustained.
