The Peter Orobor Foundation, a non-governmental Organization, has donated stationery to 236 students and paid development levies for 20 others in two Junior Secondary schools in the FCT to boost their learning experience.
Founder of the Foundation, Peter Orobor, while presenting the learning materials to students of JSS Karonma Jiji and JSS Garki Area10 in Abuja, urged other wealthy Nigerians to directly intervene in like manner, and even better.
He said that the initiative is part of the foundation 2021/2022 project to empower at least 500 less privileged children to motivate them to believe in themselves, to succeeded in their chosen endeavor to contribute to national development.
“Education is believed to be the best gift and legacy, that can be bequeathed on a child, and in traditional Nigerian parenting a child is usually raised by the whole community. It is in light of this that the Peter Orobor foundation donated exercise books and pens to 216 students in JSS Karonma Jigi and also paid development levies for 20 other pupils in the school,” Orobor said.
While urging the students to take their studies serious, he also urged them to also strive to learn a skill to complement their learning.
The Vice Principal Administration of the JSS Karonma Jigi, Gloria Agi, thanked the delegation for the kind gesture, noting that the stationery will go a long way to help some of the less privileged children in the school.
Also speaking, the Secretary General Universal Peace Federation Nigeria, Dr. George Ikpot, called for character education to mould future leaders that are selfless, morally upright and patriotic.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Miracle Yakubu who aspires to be a doctor, assured that the students will make judicious use of the stationery and concentrate on their studies.
Meanwhile, receiving the items at the Junior Secondary School Garki area 10, where 20 students received three exercise books each and pens, the Vice Principal Administration, Mary Agabi, commended the foundation for the support and putting a smile on the faces of the children.
She also urged public-spirited individuals and groups to join in revitalizing public schools, and boost student enrollment.
