The Global Peace Foundation-Nigeria (GPFN) has commenced security and peace dialogue in Abuja, following waves of insecurity in the nation’s capital city, as part of measures to arrest the situation.
The event held on Thursday at the Chief of Garki Palace in Abuja, was part of Interfaith Dialogue for Peace, themed, ‘Uniting Traditional and Religious Leaders in Supporting Security in Abuja and its Environs’ was attended by representatives of FCT villages and communities.
The country representative of the Global Peace Foundation, Rev John Joseph Hayab, urged Muslims and Christians’ leaders as well as traditional rulers to collaborate to make the FCT safer for all and the success of such collaboration can be replicated across the country.
Rev Hayab, who was also the immediate past Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), noted that the FCT in recent months experienced insecurity and that the dialogue was aimed at fostering peace, unity and addressing insecurity in Abuja.

Also, the Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society, Sheik Fuad Adeyemi, said was easier and cheaper to invest in peace than to manage conflicts.
The paramount ruler of Garki Chiefdom, Dr Usman Nga Kupi, represented by the district head of Mabushi, Alhassan Dangana Mabushi, said anyone that preaches peace is in line with God’s agenda for mankind.
