Former Vanguard reporter granted N10m bail

A High Court sitting in Kaduna yesterday granted the former reporter with Vanguard newspapers Luka Binniyat N10million bail.

Binniyat was arraigned over alleged false publication and incitement leveled against him by the Kaduna State Government. The court had during its sitting of July 12, 2017 ordered that he be remanded in prison until the next hearing of the case.

At the continuation of hearing yesterday, Justice Bashir Sukola who granted the bail application, ordered that Binniyat be remanded in prison until he was able to meet the bail conditions. 

Responding to the bail conditions, the counsel to the journalist, Alex Marama who led other five lawyers, said he would apply for varying of the bail conditions.
