A former NFL player, Sergio Brown, has filed a not guilty plea to the murder of his mother and the subsequent concealment of her body.
Brown entered the pleas before an Illinois judge on Wednesday, December 6, according to a representative for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
When authorities stated that Brown had killed his mother, 73, in Maywood in September and disposed of her body next to a creek behind her house, they initially charged him with one count of first-degree murder and one count of concealing a dead body back in October.
Authorities claimed that after the murder, Brown fled quickly to Mexico, where he was spotted dancing and having a great time at a club in Tulum.
Eventually, he was arrested upon extradition and taken to Illinois to face charges
He is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to return for another hearing in the case late next month.
