A former minister of education, Professor Rukayyatu Ahmad Rufa’i has attributed the present predicaments of Nigeria to government’s poor positive plan in guiding and protecting the youths.
Professor Rukayyatu made this known at a public lecture organised by League and Initiative for Youth Awareness in collaboration with Dangote Business School, Bayero University Kano, held at the school’s conference hall.
As a lead speaker during the event, she revealed that it was high time that government at all levels started considering the implementation of measures that will address the issues of youths through effective and positive engagement for a better tomorrow.
Similarly, chairman of the event, a former national chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Attahiru Jega, stated that there was a need for active participation of youth in governance and politics for a better atmosphere in the nation.
The former INEC boss also tasked the Nigerian youth on concentrating on entrepreneurial skill acquisition in order to become self-reliant.
However, the founder and initiator of League and Initiative for Youth Awareness Barrister Sadiq Sabo Kurawa stated that the need for the youth to be aware of what they need to do and the zeal to create a synergy between the present leadership and youths for effective engagement in addressing youths restiveness and other vices are what prompted the public lectures.
