A former Education minister and presidential aspirant of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Congress (ANPP), Dauda Birma, has died at the age of 81.
Birma, who holds the traditional title of Sarkin Gabas Adamawa, died on Tuesday at the Yola Specialists Hospital after brief illness.

His eldest son and managing director of the Birma family business, South Chad Limited, Abubakar Dauda Birma, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
The deceased left behind 12 children, two wives and 28 grand children.
Until his death, Birma was a member, Board of Trust of the North East Development Commission.
He had served the country in various capacities including a member of the National Dialogue Committee.
Twice a presidential aspirant, Dauda led a group of aspirants to step down for Muhammadu Buhari at the 2003 convention.
