A former Kano Pillars football club secretary and the longest serving secretary of the Kano State Football Association, Alhaji Auwalu Musa Zakirai, died yesterday at the age of 70.
The Media Officer of Kano Pillars FC, Alhaji Idris Rilwanu Malikawa in a statement said the former scribe passed on in the morning at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase General hospital Kano after a protracted illness.

The statement also indicated that Auwalu has left behind a wife, 15 children and many grandchildren.
Late Auwalu Zakirai was a sports administrator of repute who dedicated his life to developing football in Kano state and the country at large.
His death is said to have come as a rude shock to the Kano State Football Association and the entire football family in the state.
In his condolence to the family of the deceased, the chairman of Kano Pillars football club, Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Yahaya ‘Jambul’ described late Zakirai as a humble, honest and dedicated indigene of the state whose name will never be forgotten in the history of Kano Pillars football club and football family in the state.
The football fraternity in Kano State, therefore, prayed to the almighty Allah to forgive all his shortcomings and put him in Jannatil Firdausi.
