Former Jigawa Speaker dies at 66

The Former Speaker, Jigawa State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adamu Ahmed Sarawa is dead.

He died in his residence in Kano Monday night at the age of 66 after a protracted illness.

The deceased hailed from Gurgun Daho village in Kafin Hausa local government area of Jigawa state.

He was a two-term Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly under the PDP-led administration of former Governor Sule Lamido between 2007 and 2015.

The deceased was the longest-serving speaker since the creation of the state in 1991.

He was said to be patient and had a harmonious working relationship with his colleagues and the executive arms of government.

He was a one-time chairman of Kafin-Hausa and the majority leader in the state assembly during the administration of former Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki.

He led Jigawa state Pilgrims delegations as Amirul Hajj several times.

He left behind two wives and children.
