The Eze Ekpeye Logbo III of Ekpeye Land in Rivers, His Imperial Majesty, Kelvin Anugwo, has formally conferred the title of Esama Ekpeye Logbo (The Full Moon of Ekpeye Kingdom) on the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Prince Chibudom Nwuche, six years after he was bestowed with the title.
The late Eze Ekpeye II, His Imperial Majesty Robinson Robinson JP in 2017 had pronounced Nwuche with the honour and title.
Eze Robinson who passed on in 2018 had said the title of Esama were for the former Deputy Speakers leadership qualities and commitment to the course of his people during and after his tenure as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Consequently, the current Eze Ekpeye Logbo who ascended the throne in May 2022, had at his first Anniversary celebration conducted the official ceremony of the conferment of Esama Ekpeye Logbo on Nwuche at his Palace at Ula Upata Community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Nwuche who was also the chairman of the occasion in his remark thanked the monarch for the honour done to him, especially at a time he was been politically victimized and called on those in authority not to use their positions to oppress, rather to use it to uplift the people.
Nwuche who expressed concern over the insecurity in Ekpeye land, urged the traditional rulers to work together and end insecurity in the area.
He also called on the Local Government Chairmen of Ahoada East and Ahoada West as chief security officers of the area, to sacrifice resources and time towards ending the insecurity as Ekpeye is gradually becoming unsafe to live and for businesses to thrive.
He also commended the Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike for the recognition and presentation of staff of office to the new king and others as well as the various developmental projects the governor has executed in the area.
