Former COAS, Yusuf laid to rest

The body of the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Luka Nyeh Yusuf was yesterday laid to rest in his hometown of Bara, Kagoma in Jama’a local government of Kaduna State. The funeral was attended by various top military officers both retired and serving among them are the two former Chiefs of Defence Staff (CDS) General Alexander Ogomudia and General Owoeye Andrew Azazi.

In his sermon, the president of the Evangelical Church of West Africa, Reverend Anthony Farinto, said that man was born to die no matter how long he stays on earth. He added that every man who died most be judged according to his deeds on earth. He used the opportunity to call on Nigerian leaders to fear God in their dealings with the masses as he said that Nigeria as a nation is yet to appreciate God’s blessings.

The late COAS was laid to rest at about 12pm with full military honours presided by the present COAS Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Danbazau. Among the dignitaries that witnessed the event are the Governor of Plateau State, Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Isaiah Balat, Honorable Godfrey Gaya, and former COAS, Generals Ibrahim Salihu, MC Ali and Air Marshal J.D Wuyep.
