Former Africa’s fastest man, Olusoji Fasuba, has expressed his desire to start “sports mentoring” for sportsmen and women in Ekiti state and Nigeria as a whole.
Fasuba, who was at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, said his vision is to start mentoring Ekiti rising athletes on how to attain their desired heights in sports and how to manage fame and resources at their disposal as super stars.
The Ado-Ekiti born sprinter also promised to come up with some initiatives that would benefit sportsmen and women in the state.
He commended Ekiti State government on sports development in the state.
He reiterated that ‘Ekiti comes first in whatever I plan to do while Nigeria follows’ just as he promised to regularly visit Ekiti State after his current contract in the United Kingdom expires.
Earlier, the sprinter met with the Chairman, Ekiti State Sports Council, Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, the General Manager, Mr. Adekunle Adeyemi and athletics coaches headed by Mr. Isiaka Oluyemi.
Osetoba called on Fasuba, not to be far away from his roots, pointing out that upcoming athletes would gain from his experience.
It will be recalled that Fasuba financially supported the recently held Athletics Coaches Association Festival of Relays in Ado-Ekiti.
