Olympique Marseille of France chief scout, Mr Passi Gerald and the Head Coach of Newcastle Jet FC in Australia, Hussein Skenderovic are among the international scouts who are expected in Yenagoa to hunt for talents at this year’s Bayelsa State Governor’s Cup.
Other football scouts expected include the Chief Executive Officer, Aspire Sports Management, France, Mr Gregory Paul, Mamelodi Sundown of South Africa chief scout, Thembele Lesly and Hussein Skenderovic, Head Coach, Newcastle Jet FC in Australia.

The Director-General of the tournament, tagged ‘Prosperity Cup’ Mr. Ono Akpe, said in a statement on Monday, that no fewer than 80 young footballers have been selected by scouts from various amateur clubs that have taken part in the preliminary matches played so far.
Akpe also said that since the official kick off of the tournament by Governor Douye Diri on May 6, over 150 matches have been played by 206 youth clubs.
“The Local Organising Committee has announced its first phase of camping for selected players which will begin this Tuesday May 17, in preparation for the invited scouts who are coming to hunt for the next generation of stars.
“Three other local scouts shall also accompany their foreign counterparts.
“As a result of the camping programme, there would be a slight break in the tournament for one week since a number of players from across the state would be involved in the trials,” he said.
