Force Headquarters lead as 14th Nigeria Police Games end

The ongoing 14th biennial Nigeria Police Games, tagged ‘Oluyole 2024’, will officially come to an end today in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital with Force Headquarters (FHQ) team Abuja topping the medals table with 93 medals.

According to the medals table made available by the organizers at the time of press, the FHQ was leading with a total of  43 gold, 21 Silver and 29 bronze while Zone 2 is 2nd with 39 gold, 20 silver and 33 bronze while Zone 11 are sitting in the 3rd place with 23 gold, 25 silver and 28 bronze just as Zone 9 is in 4th place with 12 gold, 13 silver and 12 bronze medals.

At the bottom of the table was Zone 3 who occupied the 18th position with only 1 silver, Zone 15 were on the 17th position with 2 silver and 6 bronze while by Zone 10 were 16th with 3 silver and 3 bronze.

However, Trust Sports gathered that more results would come in before the close of competition on Friday.

It will also be recalled that over 4000 athletes from the 17 Zonal commands have been vying for honours at the biennial games for the past six days.

At the start of the games, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the games would produce new talents for the Nigeria Police Force and the country at large.

The sporting event tagged “competing for peace, unity, stability and development of Nigeria’, which started on March 2 will conclude with a closing ceremony today as dignitaries from all walks of life are expected to grace the occasion.
