For an Almajiri, it’s a life of danger, abuse (III)

One broad fact inferable from the expansive discourse on the regrettable situation of the young Almajiri is: the various forms of abuse blighting him are symptomatic of his enmeshment in the web of societal transformations within the broad trajectory of modernity and the achievement of deeper Islamic religious knowledge.
His current pitiable personality is a product of the fierce battle between the olden system, which originality gave birth to it, on one hand; and the formidable forces of those societal transformations, on the other.
Apart from the imperatives of a modern developing society, those transformations saliently feature the refinement of Islamic religious practices, which now anathematizes the Almajiri system; and the prevalence of various societal misfortunes, which takes advantage of the Almajiri system to thrive.
Although various contributors to the discourse are at conflict with each other on attributing certain forms of the abuse on the largely ‘indefensible’ youngster, they seem virtually unanimous on the gravity of the danger his abuse poses to the society and the best ways to achieve rescue for him and the society.
