Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has said arrangements have been concluded to acquire and cultivate 10,000 hectares of land as part of the state government’s plan to fully key into the federal government’s food security programme.
The governor who disclosed this in Lafia, the state capital yesterday, revealed that the state had been mapped along with those that would play a major role in achieving the food security agenda of the federal government.
Recall that the federal government in January promised to cultivate about 500,000 hectares of farmlands across the country to fight against the prevailing hunger in the country.
The governor maintained that he had prevailed on the State Executive Council to come up with modalities to acquire the required land for the project.

He said, “We are considering deploying our available resources as well as the resources that would come as a result of the project. The executive council has to take the decision about developing the 10, 000 hectares of land.”
