The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yola, Professor Auwal Muhammad and his team on Saturday announced the separation of the third set of conjoined twins in the centre.
Professor Auwal said while celebrating the operation that it was successful as a result of the intervention received from the Secretary to the Federal Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, the Emeka Foundation and the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) that donated medical equipment to ease the process.

He said after they were stabilized, he was contacted by the management of FMC Yenagoa for the surgery and he agreed to do it but had mobility challenge.
He then contacted the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar who facilitated transportation of the twins to Yola when they were 23 days old.
Auwal noted that upon their arrival, FMC Yola took care of their feeding and surgery free of charge.
However, the COVID 19 pandemic caused delay of the surgery as most hospitals were shut down.
Professor Auwal applauded the German Hospital for allowing them to use their MRI and CT machines without any charge.
He said after the surgery which took place on August 20 the twins recuperated very fast and were discharged on the fifth day.
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, lauded efforts of medical team to save the twins.
