Crown Flour Mill (CFM) Limited has empowered Kano women wheat farmers with the company’s products as well as free irrigation equipment as part of the company’s ongoing strategic investment drive to support Nigeria’s food production.
Speaking on the company’s wheat farming intervention during presentation of the irrigation inputs to the beneficiaries held in Biyamusu village of Ajingi Local Government Area Wheat Development Programme Officer of CFM, Malama Rauda Musa Umar, said that CFM is committed to assisting farmers, especially women, to ensure conformity to government’s food security and economic diversification agenda.

She explained that the free irrigation equipment given to the selected women is meant to assist the female smallholder wheat farmers and ultimately enhance their productivity levels.
She added that the realization of the productivity potential of women smallholder farmers in the country has largely been constrained by poor access to land and farming tools, especially irrigation equipment, hence the company’s decision to assist the women.
The President of Wheat Farmers Association of Nigeria (WFAN), Dr. Salim Saleh, said the presentation of the farming equipment to women members would go a long way in boosting the women farmer’s productivity level in the state.
