Zamfara State Government has awarded a contract for the construction of drainages and culverts in Gusau, the state capital at the cost of N692 million, the state Commissioner of Works and Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Isah Mayana has disclosed.
He said the construction of quality drainages and culverts would begin by the end of November when the rainy season starts to cease, while the drainages and culverts would be of a high standard.

“The width and depth of some of the drainages will range from 1.5 metres, 3 metres, and 6 meters, and will extend 2,200 metres in length.
“Apart from these, culverts will also be constructed at different important locations,” he said.
“We have signed the contract for this very important project.
“The drainages would start from Yar dorayi-Gadar Abu, Magaji-Gusau hotel, and then to the stream behind Zamfara textile.
“This would go a long way in averting seasonal flood disaster in the capital city,” he said.
